Eric Rojany of Modern Speed Machines builds a supercharged, 500 horsepower, one-off Mustang GT
It was a classic case of love at first sight. When the S197 Mustang launched for the 2005 model year, Eric Rojany knew he had to be involved with the car. He believed everything about the car had potential, especially the 3-valve engine and the new retro design. Rojany dropped out of the motorcycle industry and opened up a retail and installation shop in Gardena, CA dealing specifically with the 2005+ Mustang. Despite being just a one man operation, the business grew quickly because of the large number of Mustang owners in Southern California and the large number of aftermarket parts available for the car. Having a passion for building cars, it was an easy decision for Rojany to build a show car that would help promote his business.
Wanting to create a unique vehicle and not just another generic Mustang show car, Rojany decided to custom fabricate much of the body work on the car. Over 4000 hours of work were spent on hand building the hood, grille, quarter window scoops, door scoops, and rear wing, none of which can be seen on any other Mustang in the world. The attention to detail can be seen upon taking a closer look. Each of the scoops has custom billet grille, and each of the body panels lines up seamlessly. In addition to the hand built panels, a 3D Carbon Boy Racer Body Kit with front and rear fascias, fender flares, and side skirts were added. With the custom pieces in place, Rojany shaved the door handles and antenna for a cleaner look. Finishing the look of the exterior is a red and black paint scheme. The red pin stripe separates the upper glossy body panels with the matte panels below, giving a subtle two-tone look to the car.
Rojany wanted to inside of the Mustang to be just as impressive as the exterior, and for this he turned to Stitchcraft Interiors of Huntingon Beach, CA. The interior features custom re-bolstered black and gray leather and suede seats with a stitched “Modern Speed Machines” logo as well as a leather covered dash and door panels. The rear seats have also been deleted, replaced with a custom center console and twin Alphasonik subwoofers combined with Alphasonik amplifiers and speakers. The stereo system is mated with an Eclipse head unit featuring navigation, DVD, and MP3. The interior also includes more subtle upgrades like the Steeda billet pedal covers, seat adjuster levers, and shift knob.
The custom bodywork and interior make this Mustang sound like it’s only suited for a show floor, but in reality it could be just at home at the drag strip or on a race track. Under the hood is a Paxton High Output Supercharger System featuring the NOVI 2200 supercharger and integrated air-to-air intercooler. Additional performance upgrades include Ford Racing 39 lb. fuel injectors, K&N Air Filter, and a full 2.5-inch JBA Performance Exhaust System. The upgrades are fine tuned with a DiabloSport Predator Flash Tuner. Horsepower is rated at an even 500, and torque is a tire-shredding 525 lb-ft.
Rojany also upgraded the suspension to handle the extra horsepower and torque. Rojany basically went on a shopping spree through the Steeda performance parts catalog. He started with Tokico D-Spec Adjustable Shocks that improve handling and drop the car 1-inch in the front and 1.25-inches in the rear. The rest are all Steeda-produced parts, including Steeda Sport Springs, front and rear sway bar, strut tower brace, rear strut bar, front competition endlinks, G-Trac brace, panhard brace and bar, Steeda Bumpsteer Kit, competition upper spring seats, and billet trailing arms.
Putting the power to the pavement, this Mustang rides on Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 Tires, 255/35/20 front and 285/30/20 rear. The Michelins are fitted over 20-inch Budnik Muroc III Wheels powdercoated to match the exterior. Providing stopping power is provided by a Brembo 2-Piece Gran Turismo Big Brake Kit with drilled and vented 14” 4-piston rotors in the front and 12” rotors in the rear.
The result of Rojany’s hard work is a unique, high performance vehicle that features some of today’s best go-fast parts combined with custom body work that makes it a one-of-a-kind Mustang. For more information on the Mustang and Modern Speed Machines, visit www.ModernSpeedMachines.com.
