Installing an Autopower street-sport roll bar in a 2007 Ford Mustang GT
For the weekend racer, a roll bar is a must and often times a safety requirement at race tracks. Autopower Safety Equipment of San Diego, CA has been manufacturing racing equipment for more than 35 years, and has developed a variety of roll bars and cages for the 2005+ Ford Mustang. Applications include anything from a bolt-in street roll bar to a full weld-in roll cage. Their roll bars and cages meet or exceed safety requirements for most competition sanctioning organizations, and have been designed for easy installation and maximum protection. For this particular Mustang, a SEMA project car being built by American Racing and Jason Cenora of Hillbank Motorsports, The Autopower Street-Sport Roll Bar was installed which includes four mounting points, a bolt-in harness mount, and 1.750 steel tubing. We found the fitment to be excellent, and the bars fit snugly against the interior and are relatively unobtrusive. The system is completely bolt-on and required no welding. Best of all, the stock front seats have plenty of room (they can even recline a little bit), and the harness-mount tube can be removed easily if you require the use of the rear seats.
